Stewart-Cousins meets with Cuomo, will scrutinize raise the age deal
Senate Democratic Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins met privately with Gov. Andrew Cuomo for a briefing on the state budget on Thursday. She and her 21 colleagues were still looking to see the exact proposal on raising the age of criminal responsibility.
“We are looking forward to getting the language,” Stewart-Cousins told reporters. “I’ve always been clear that we are looking for certain elements — something real that actually improves the outcomes for children who, frankly, should be treated in our system as children.”
“There are still, obviously, outstanding issues and nothing’s done until it’s actually done,” she said. “I think some bills might be coming forth, but there are still things that are not resolved.”
